For some, performing is second nature. We know that amongst the British Mums community there’s a large number of very talented mums who were literally born for the stage. But does the dream of ‘making it’ seem too unrealistic in an industry where so many long to succeed?

The film and TV industry is seen by many as tough to get into and securing work as a screen actor may feel unrealistic. However, through specialist training, the professional screen acting academy YAFTA, has successfully trained many of its actors to become professional screen actors who now secure work in a whole variety of productions for major broadcasters including Netflix, Sky, BBC, ITV, Amazon Prime, Channel 5, Channel 4 and more.

YAFTA is a renowned and reputable acting academy based in the UK and they are now expanding internationally, choosing Dubai as the first international location to launch their exclusive Acting for Screen Online Diploma programme. The one-year programme is an online adaption of their prestigious Acting for Screen Diploma taught in the UK and is specifically aimed at adults who are new to screen acting.

If you’ve never acted before but would love to give it a try or you long to pursue your childhood dream of acting on screen, the YAFTA Acting for Screen Diploma: Online Interactive Delivery, is a part-time course that can take you from beginner to professional actor within 12 months.

The digital course has been developed to fit around your existing family and work commitments and includes two contact sessions per week. Taught entirely online by qualified, UK based acting tutors and industry professionals, you will be equipped with the acting skills, knowledge and industry insight that you need to make it as a professional screen actor.

The diploma is taught by tutors who trained at the world’s leading drama schools including RADA, LAMDA, Central School of Speech and Drama, ALRA and LIPA, as well as industry professionals currently working in the acting industry.

YAFTA founder and managing director, Charlotte Armitage said: “There is so much excitement around Dubai when it comes to the film and tv industry, especially the untapped talent here. It seemed the perfect location to expand internationally to. I’m looking forward to offering our specialist training to those who have the potential and desire to work towards a career as a professional screen actor.

As a mother myself, I understand the demands on our time, as such, this course has been developed with that in mind. This course is perfect for those have busy lives but who want quality screen acting teaching and training.

YAFTA graduates have appeared in iconic TV programmes including Game of Thrones, Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, Emmerdale, Holby City, Casualty, Killing Eve, Happy Valley, All Creatures Great and Small, – the list in endless and just keeps growing.”

The Academy’s first online diploma launched in April this year with a cohort of students from around the globe including the UK, Australia and Jamaica.  Marlena Kelli, (51) who recently started the online diploma course said: “The first session of the course was amazing. It’s a great mix of people and really inspiring. I can’t wait to get my teeth into it.”

Charlotte adds:

“Our approach at YAFTA is like no other, we focus on the experiential elements of acting training and industry knowledge as well as providing a solid education in the skill of acting. Furthermore, we support students in developing the psychological and emotional resilience required to succeed in this industry.”

The course is taught in a modular fashion and will involve students completing work outside of the online sessions. Students will qualify for student Equity membership and student membership of the Royal Television Society (RTS).

YAFTA Talent Agency is an award winning, PMA registered agency, which represents professional screen actors and social media influencers. Students who successfully complete the course will have the opportunity to be represented by YAFTA.

The next courses start in September and for more information, please email info@yafta.co.uk. Entry to the programme is via audition only and applications can be made at www.yaftainternational.com.
