Dubai’s brunch scene offers us everything from the quiet and secluded, to family friendly picnic style, to a la carte gourmet – we’re simply spoilt for choice. However, one thing’s for sure; most of us are looking for a wide range of food, drinks that will meet all tastes and something that offers great value and that’s exactly what’s on offer at the Fork and Cork Brunch!

Set in the luxurious Anantara The Palm Hotel’s all-day dining restaurant called Crescendo, the Fork & Cork brunch has a lively atmosphere. It’s held in a large indoor space with a variety of regular and couch style seating that can be arranged into the long sprawling tables that accommodated the many big groups that enjoy brunching there. In cooler months, guests can enjoy the popular smaller terrace area with live barbeque cooking stations that overlook the hotels’ main pool, Palm fronds and Dubai Marina skyline.

This brunch has a very lively atmosphere for adults – probably due to the fact that the drinks offering is pretty comprehensive! The Anantara’s Thai inspiration spans right through to Brunch drinks with a Bombay Sapphire ‘G&T’ stand being served through a Tuk-Tuk windscreen and Malibu cocktails being served in fresh coconuts with straws. There’s also Bloody Mary, Mojito and Espresso Martini stations too that are permanently manned to ensure the continuous supply of fresh drinks being available without the need to wait. Combine this with a house selection of wines and beers and now you’ll see why the atmosphere is buzzing and is a popular choice for friends to gather.

The variation of the Fork & Cork’s food offerings is equally impressive as they appear to have almost every variety of food there that you could possibly imagine! The usual brunch seafood offerings of crab, oysters and prawns are there as with a delectable array of salads and entrees – all perfectly presented to be ever so tempting. We enjoyed smoked duck breast and apple salad, fresh seared asparagus and the delicately spiced sushi for starters, but you really will be spoilt for choice.

Main dishes spanned every corner of the globe with particular attention to Asian flavours. From the barbequed shish kebabs, Tandoori, parathas, Naan and other Indian dishes to Thai curries, fresh udon noodles, miso soup, dim sum and Peking duck rolls.

Pair all of this with this British favourites such as battered fish and chips, mushy peas, chicken, mushroom and leek pie, roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and add in other worldly flavours such as tacos, quesadillas, a ceviche station and nachos and you’ve got literally something for everyone as the choice is nothing short of huge!

Although there’s a children’s area offering sweet corn, nuggets, fries and other typical children’s dishes, you might prefer to take them around the vast buffet where they’ll discover fresh gnocchi pasta with a spinach and ragout sauce, fish and saffron, stews and rice dishes.

To end this feast of a brunch, guests have a choice to visit the beautifully presented cheese table or for the sweet toothed, there are several potted deserts such as panna cotta, chocolate mousse and plenty of cakes and tortes to tempt you. We enjoyed the rich and indulgent chocolate ganache cake, however sometimes less is more and the highlight of desert for many seemed to be the ever busy ice cream machine that churned out an endless supply of vanilla, chocolate, or vanilla and chocolate mixed soft scoop cornets, that were popular with adults and children alike.

The Fork and Cork Brunch caters for everyone and with their Gluten Free deserts such as blueberry cheesecake, a candy floss machine and a popcorn station it seems like they can’t do enough to please! They have a small, simple children’s area that’s suitable for toddlers with soft mat flooring and a few simple activities and games but otherwise, older children would be advised to bring iPads, puzzles or colouring to the table if they’re not busy enough with the ice cream station!

This bustling brunch is no place for quiet chit-chat as the background music ensures its equally as lively as its’ guests. The proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say – and this brunch was jam packed meaning you need to book early to avoid disappointment.
