One of the world’s leading schools of the future, Swiss International School in Dubai (SISD) is known for its brilliant bilingual curriculum, state-of-the-art sporting facilities and having one of the best boarding houses there is in the region. It has also recently announced even more developments for the new academic year and these are only set to enhance it’s position further.

The Swiss International School in Dubai (SISD) has just appointed a new Head of School, opened its brand new boarding school for girls, has added even more state-of-the-art facilities, and a major step forward – the Swiss Baccalaureate has just been made available too.

Embarking on its fourth year of operation and fast becoming the number one choice for bilingual European families in Dubai, the super-impressive Swiss International School in Dubai (SISD) has a new head at its’ helm and he’s set to take it from strength to strength.

With over three decades of numerous educational leadership positions, (and most specifically in Swiss schools with international and bilingual backgrounds), Mr Norbert Foerster is the perfect fit to take the reins of  Swiss International School in Dubai (SISD)’s  future.

This unique bilingual co-educational school, located on Al Khail road but offers easy access to the Sheikh Zayed Road, has also officially announced the opening of its brand new boarding facilities for girls. Students from the 6th until 11th grade (grade 12 opening in 2019 pending KHDA approval) have access to all of its impressive facilities and have the option between full-time, weekly and flexi boarding at its campus in Dubai Creek.

The newly furnished girls boarding house provides a much-anticipated addition to Swiss International School in Dubai (SISD)’s existing boys boarding facilities that opened back in September 2017. Each facility has four spacious floors equipped with 14 en-suite rooms, (double and single), a fully stocked kitchen as well as a tutor apartment on each floor.

Their boarding houses provide all-essential pastoral care as well as some seriously good community rooms that are full-to-the-brim of things to do for when the students have time to relax. It’s a place where currently 15 students from 10 different nationalities are forming the best of friendships on their exciting educational journey and it’s set to grow.

Having recently been awarded the patronage of the Canton du Valais, (one of just 26 back in Switzerland), Swiss International School in Dubai (SISD) is also laying the foundations for the introduction for the Swiss Baccalaureate in the UAE and the wider region. This means that with the exception of medical studies, students with a Swiss Baccalaureate Diploma will not be required to take admissions exams to gain entry into Swiss Universities, Federal Institutes of Technology and further education courses.

The bilingual Swiss Baccalaureate at Swiss International School in Dubai (SISD) is a seven-year long German/English programme, that starts in Grade 6 (British equivalent of Year 7) and leads to graduation at the end of Grade 12 with the Swiss Baccalaureate Diploma. Impressive stuff…

The new Head of School, Mr Foerster, said: “I’m delighted to take over the leadership and further development of Swiss International School in Dubai (SISD) into a school of the future in a country that puts so much emphasis on education. I’m especially delighted to be able to kick off this new academic year with such upgraded facilities to ensure that the educational development is just as important as the wellbeing of the students. The introduction of the Swiss Baccalaureate is also of immense value to the rich programme we already offer at our school. Last but not least, the school has achieved a huge milestone with the official opening of the girls’ boarding which puts us on the right path to becoming the leading regional boarding school in this region.”
