I’m Harriet – I’ve lived in Dubai for 2 and a half years now, with my husband and our two girls, Minnie who’s 3, and Pixie, 8 months. I was born and raised in London, although my dad moved to California when I was in my teens, so LA will always be my second home!
WHERE IS HOME?
London – but we are very happy calling Dubai home right now 🙂 Also my spiritual home is definitely Greece. My husband and I got married there and my heart always feels happy when I’m there – pretty sure I was a Greek goddess in another life! 😂
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER?
A ballerina, and then a tv presenter. I actually enjoyed a (very!) brief stint as an ITV weather girl, although thankfully for the general public, it was a short lived career!
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I’m a Holistic Life Coach and mindset mentor, working exclusively with mums. I trained as a functional medicine health coach initially and found so many of my clients were mums who – after putting the needs of their families and others before theirs for so long – had lost sight of who they were, what their passions were and what filled their cup. So I retrained as a Life Purpose Coach, and Spiritual Life Coach in order to help mums reconnect with who they are on a deeper level, at their core, and step in the highest, happiest and healthiest versions of themselves.
You can find out a little bit more on my website.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ACTIVITY TO DO WITH YOUR CHILDREN?
Recently my eldest has really gotten into art and painting, so that’s something we really enjoy doing together. I’ve never considered myself a creative person so I’ve really enjoyed embracing my inner Picasso and nurturing hers at the same time!
HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR WEEKENDS?
My husband still works a UK week here so our weekends are Saturday/Sunday which is a little odd, although works well for us right now as my daughter doesn’t go to nursery on Sundays so we make the most of hitting the waterparks and soft plays when its quiet! (Although not sure what we’ll do when both girls are in school full time – probably hit up the beach clubs and the rose!) Saturdays always revolve around a massive lunch, followed by family movie night.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE?
It’s a close tie between La La Land, The Greatest Showman and The Notebook.
IF YOU COULD EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
My mums spag Bol.
WHO’S YOUR CELEBRITY CRUSH?
Cillian Murphy – or more specifically, Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders.
WHICH DESTINATION IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST TO VISIT?
So many. I’d love to see the Northern Lights, and I’d love to take the girls to Lapland. Also St Barths is definitely high up on the list. Also, despite living so close I have yet to do any Indian Ocean trips so Maldives or Seychelles is definitely next up!
WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?
It’s got to be trash TV. And marmite on toast. Ideally both at the same time.
IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Such a cliched answer but it would have to be flying. Or perhaps a teleporter so I could just click my fingers and be back in London without having to endure a 7 hour flight with a toddler and baby!
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN DUBAI?
Asides from the obvious (weather, safety, etc) it has to be the people. I love the sense of community that exists out here, and how friendly and welcoming everyone is in shops/restaurants. Sometimes if I’m having a rubbish day, I love just going to the supermarket and having a warm encounter with someone. And although it presents its own challenges, I also love how much there is to do for kids here and how there is always something new opening!
