ABOUT ME

I am a proud mother of two young children, Harrison and Hannah, who are my universe. I have always been a curious soul, and love to discover new destinations and meet people from different backgrounds. I was a 70’s child born in North London, my father was a doctor, and my mother a fine art teacher. I was never much of a girly girl, the influence of my 3 brothers no doubt, but somewhat of a rebel (so my mother tells me). As children, the family travelled a lot, which has in many ways shaped who I am today.

WHERE IS HOME?

I moved to Liverpool 18 years ago and fell in love with the city and its people. Whilst Dubai has been home for over 6 years, we still go back to scouse land most summers.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER?

I’ve always wanted to be an interior designer and only applied to study medicine because my dad told me medicine was difficult and that I wouldn’t cope (I used to faint at the sight of blood) ahhh, the power of reverse psychology!

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I’m an obstetrician and gynaecologist at Genesis Healthcare Center in Dubai. I have the privilege to guide ladies through all the complexities of a woman’s ever changing life. Helping mothers bring new live into the world is the most rewarding experience I can imagine, and I feel blessed to be able to do this for a living. Trust, compassion and understanding are cornerstones of what I do, joining women on their unique journeys through every twist and turns can create strong bonds, indeed some of my close friendships stated out as my patients.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE ACTIVITY TO DO WITH YOUR CHILDREN?

I love baking and would like to consider myself as the (somewhat younger) Mary Berry of our household. I am happiest cooking with my children who love to get involved in all aspects, especially the eating… We have lots of family date nights and love cuddling in our bed watching a movie.

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR WEEKENDS?

I work crazy unpredictable hours, so every spare moment I have with my family I cherish. We are always on the move; during weekends, my children love to join me in my ward rounds and see the new babies, after that we are between malls, parks, beaches, restaurants. Whatever we can fit in, we do.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE?

The Sound of Music. Takes me straight back to my childhood, the family would watch it every year, I can still watch it over and over again, belting out every song.

IF YOU COULD EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I love roast dinners – all the trimmings, big massive Yorkshire puddings and lots of gravy.

WHO’S YOUR CELEBRITY CRUSH?

I think my son can answer that one, Tom Hardy.

WHICH DESTINATION IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST TO VISIT?

I’m a sucker for a beautiful beach holiday and living in Dubai I have had the opportunity to visit some very nice locations – however Bora Bora has always been a place I long to visit. That said, with the current lockdown I would be delighted to visit Kite beach.

WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?

Watching reality TV with a nice cuppa whilst eating a whole packet of custard creams and Jammie dodgers to myself…

IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Healing Powers – To make people healthy and happy; and make Corona disappear.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN DUBAI?

I love living in Dubai because it’s safe for my family, great weather and a hub for exotic travels.
