ABOUT ME

I’m Sallie Henry from a town just outside Manchester in the UK. I’ve called Dubai home for 10 years this summer after moving here with my husband in 2011. Initially we came out here to work and have achieved quite a lot in 10 years, including having our two girls aged 3 and 6 in Dubai.

WHERE IS HOME?

We started our Dubai adventure in Dubai Marina, which will always be super special to us, but when we had our family, we moved to Jumeirah Park.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER?

When I was really young, I wanted to be a librarian and would put little tickets in all my books. Funnily, my Mum brought a set over for my daughter a few years ago and most of them still have those tickets in over 30 years later – she keeps everything. After that I always wanted to work in TV and I followed my dreams by studying Broadcasting at Leeds University and was lucky enough to land a dream job at ITV.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

Since lockdown last year I have taken on homeschool preschool with our youngest, which led us to search for new and exciting places and activities to do alongside her love for magnetic tiles, crafting and tea parties. It’s been fantastic to search and visit so many places and I love making things for the girls, from adventures indoors to fancy dress costumes and DIY birthday parties.

The impact of COVID-19 on our lives and the way in which we view the country led me to
explore the magic of this beautiful place we call home – I wanted to share this magic with my
girls. During lockdown, I wanted to provide my girls with excitement, so I planned different
activities, adventures and themed days. We had a blast doing this and it helped keep our mind
off what was going on out there. So, earlier this year I decided to start Mumfunandlittleones
with the purpose of becoming a source of information for parents looking for activities to do with their children, inside and outside the home. I want to share the magic and wonder of the United Arab Emirates, that I have discovered with my girls and also share and hopefully inspire parents to create fun activities at home to keep the little ones entertained for hours. It’s been exciting starting something new that was initially just for my family and I. Creating a space for Mums and Dads to not only come and explore the UAE with us but also provide inspiration to create excitement at home for little ones is extremely exciting and we can’t wait to see where we can take it. We hope you follow us
(https://www.instagram.com/mumfunandlittleones/) and share our imagination, creativity and
family adventures packed into two every growing little minds.

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR WEEKENDS?

We love to find new adventures that take us to parts of the UAE we have never been. I have a never-ending list of places we want to go and ones we have been to. We also love spending
time at home as a family and with a little imagination we have had some amazing adventures in our own home.
