I’m a self-confessed ‘expat brat’. I was born in Ireland, but left when I was 8 years old and so began my love of travel. I’ve lived in America, Hong Kong, France, the UK and now, the UAE. Dubai has been home for the last 8 years – it’s where I met my husband, Alex, and where we had our daughter, Aoife (Ee-fa), last June. When we are not in a pandemic, my first love is travel, swiftly followed by food and exploring new places with good friends. My favourite places to travel to are Asian countries and European city breaks.
WHERE IS HOME?
Home is Ireland but the reality is that home is wherever I am sleeping that night!
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER?
When I was very young, I wanted to be a secretary – I loved organising and all the stationary 😉. This soon changed to a Marketing Manager which I was until I changed careers to become a Travel Counsellor.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I’m a franchisee of Travel Counsellors. We are a UK travel company and a joint venture with Dnata here in the UAE. Each Travel Counsellor runs their own business independently but we all have access to the same rates and we share our head office support team (based in the Dnata building), along with a 24/7 Duty Office based out of the UK. My forte is luxury, bespoke itineraries but I also do a lot of group trips, staycations, family holidays, cruises, honeymoons, etc. My favourite thing about being a Travel Counsellor is getting positive feedback from clients and having them recommend me. There is nothing I value more than a word of mouth referral and honestly, it makes me so happy when my clients have the best holidays. If you are looking to travel and aren’t already working with a Travel Counsellor, I can help!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ACTIVITY TO DO WITH YOUR CHILDREN?
Aoife is 9 months old so my favourite things to do with her are all around exploring new things whether that be sounds, textures or surfaces (she loves to climb!)
HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR WEEKENDS?
Right now our weekends are spent looking at villas as we are hoping to move out of our apartment and get a bit more space. Usually, we like to meet up with friends for breakfast or brunch and as 2021 is the year of fitness for me, you can always catch me at a F45 class.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE?
Pass – I have the worst memory for films. I could be half way through a movie only to realise that I have already seen it.
IF YOU COULD EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Chocolate! This is also part of the reason for the year of fitness!
WHO’S YOUR CELEBRITY CRUSH?
Jesse Williams from Greys Anatomy.
WHICH DESTINATION IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST TO VISIT?
On the bucket list are Maldives (fingers crossed this happens this year!), the Artic, Seychelles, Korea, Iceland and Costa Rica.
WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?
90’s dance music and reality tv.
IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
I would love to be able to read people’s minds.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN DUBAI?
Winter weather, the fact that it is a great travel hub and the mix of nationalities.
