ABOUT ME

Hey, I’m Kate and I’ve been married to Pete for nearly 13 years. We have 5 boys aged 2, 6, 8, 9 and 11 who keep us busy; and the fridge empty! I’m a piano player, a heart operation survivor and a past X-Factor auditionee! I’m a big fan of The Office and Gavin & Stacey! I love singing loudly when I’m on my own in the car and I have eaten my weight in Cadburys chocolate many times over! I have worked for the NHS and Swarovski UK and spent many hours planning parties and weddings. Nothing means more to me than my family and friends. I love binge watching box sets and I really do want world peace!

WHERE IS HOME?

I was born and bred in Worthing, West Sussex (husband is from Caterham, Surrey). When we got married, we moved to Crawley for 5 years but ended up moving back to the south coast before our eldest started primary school.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER?

I always wanted to be a Paediatric Nurse. I’d love to work back in a hospital again; and one day go to university to train as a nurse when my children don’t need me around as much.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I’m a stay at home mum and currently playing the role of home-school teacher to 4; and entertainer to a 2 year old! I was a Health Care Assistant in a Children’s Centre at my local hospital before I had my 5th baby. I also started my own cake business a few years back.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ACTIVITY TO DO WITH YOUR CHILDREN?

I love baking with my boys, and having impromptu dance parties! We’re quite a musical family and I love it when we have a sing song around the piano or in the car. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my boys happy and enjoying themselves.

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR WEEKENDS?

With the current situation; we are living for the weekends! My husband will typically make his trademark pancakes or French toast for brunch, we’ll swim and play football in the garden. We love going to the beach and enjoy the water parks when we can. We’ll usually play some games; Monopoly, Uno & Risk are popular with the kids! It’s been a while, but we love having friends over to dinner and nothing beats a weekend family movie with sweets and popcorn; snuggled up on the sofa (even if the husband nods off minutes in)!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE?

Can I have two?! The Blindside and Bridesmaids.

IF YOU COULD EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

It would have to be a traditional home cooked roast chicken dinner. With all the trimmings; including Aunty Bessie’s Roast parsnips and bread sauce!!

WHO’S YOUR CELEBRITY CRUSH?

Jamie Foxx!

WHICH DESTINATION IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST TO VISIT?

New York has been on the top of my list for years and I’d love to go to Africa on a safari.

WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?

Eating Cadburys chocolate and scrolling thru social media – sometimes at the same time!

IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Would eating tons of chocolate and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream without putting weight on be classed as a super power?! If not, I’d settle for teleportation!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN DUBAI?

We’ve been here for 10 months and are really enjoying it. Even with having 5 kids, a husband who works long hours, being on the school PTC, and doing some volunteering work; the pace of life for me is so much slower than it was back home. I’ve had time to ‘stop and smell the roses’ and I’m not always rushing to get to the next place, or tick the next thing off my list. It’s been wonderful! We’ve had a lot more quality family time and we’ve had experiences we wouldn’t have been able to have back home. We miss our family and friends but have made lifelong friends here already. As a family; we feel very blessed to be in Dubai.
