It’s quite humbling to be invited by British Mums to be featured for my contribution to the group. Writing a bio and where to begin is daunting! I always wanted to experience childbirth, I knew being a mum is something I would find incredibly rewarding. It took me a long time to meet my Prince Charming and I found him in my English gentleman eventually when I was 38. I had honestly believed I would never marry and I was content with that too as I’m a strong, determined woman and have come from a long line of entrepreneurial women. I have been fortunate to work part time since getting pregnant with our first. You might know me as the Will and Guardianship organiser but I’m actually a self employed financial adviser. I trained and qualified at home where I was surrounded by incredible family and friends, people I miss daily but I get to see regularly. My dad sadly passed in 2008 and in 2011 I decided to make a move to Dubai not knowing when that journey would end but here I am coming up to ten years. Life’s not perfect but I love my adventure so far. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and the appreciation that comes with that. Coming here alone building my business and meeting my husband has been truly amazing. It’s enhanced the values I hold dear. If anyone is lonely or needs an ear, I’m always here to listen.
WHERE IS HOME?
I’m a Dublin girl through and through. I love my city and I miss it a lot but Dubai has so much to give, especially to young families.
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER?
I can’t honestly remember but my 3 yr old thinks a vampire! I think possibly an actress, I know enough was spent on it! I have played in Dublin’s Gaiety theatre amongst others.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE ACTIVITY TO DO WITH YOUR CHILDREN?
With baby Ella cuddles and more cuddles. Alice cooking, baking and swimming.
HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR WEEKENDS?
The Polo Club is our new hang out place (feel free to pop by and say hello) as we joined having moved to AR1 recently. We love going out for lazy lunches and always have a kids activity each day too whether as a family or with some of our fabulous friends.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE?
Tough call but all all time favourite is Dirty Dancing. So many to choose from I love both Lethal Weapons, The Bourne collection and Love Actually.
IF YOU COULD EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
For entree Dublin Bay Prawns, main a big kebab from Zaytoon in Dublin and for dessert banoffe pie washed down with a Sauvignon Blanc and a Malbec. Too much?!
WHO’S YOUR CELEBRITY CRUSH?
Ross Poldark – dreading the final episode, I’ll be a little heartbroken.
WHICH DESTINATION IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST TO VISIT?
China, I love history. I’ve read so much about China’s colourful, tragic and beautiful past so definitely China.
WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?
Honestly, it’s taken me days to think about this and I can’t think of a single thing. I could say Lindt Lindor red chocolate balls but I don’t feel an ounce of guilt when I eat them.
IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
No contest, be able to turn back time and see my dad.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN DUBAI?
I got to meet my amazing and very handsome English gentleman. In almost ten years I’ve married and had two beautiful children. I am so grateful for all I have, I don’t crave anything that I thought was important for many years.
