ABOUT
ME

Although I was originally born in the UK, I grew up in the Middle East where I first lived in Muscat, Oman before moving to Dubai as a young teen. I met my Scottish husband here while I was in school and this year we’re celebrating 10 years of marriage! Together we’ve brought our four beautiful children into the world, Mirren age 9, Scarlett, age 8, Kain, age 6, Jack, age 4 and we’ve also added Ted, our Labrador, into the fold! Our home is full of chaos and love.

There’s nothing I’d rather do than be together with my family and I truly found my calling in motherhood. Together we enjoy exploring the UAE, travelling the world – before covid, and, when I get the chance, I play the saxophone.

WHERE IS HOME?

I am originally a Yorkshire Lass from Barnsley but came to the Middle East as a tween with my family and never left. Dubai is home for me.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER?

I wanted to be an author and write stories of faraway places and endless romance.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I support as many Mums as I can as a Community and Social Manager for Mumzworld.com and I LOVE my job. As I mentioned, I truly found my calling in Motherhood so it doesn’t get much better than being able to combine supporting my family with my passion for supporting other Mums. Mumzworld is also one of the few companies out there that see being a mother as an incredible asset and offer the flexibility to work around raising children.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ACTIVITY TO DO WITH YOUR CHILDREN?

We love being a part of Pirates Surf. As a busy mum, it offers me an excuse to spend a much needed hour at the beach connecting with the most wonderful people and the children get to learn life skills while being in and around the ocean with their friends. If you do one activity as a family, let it be this!

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR WEEKENDS?

When the weather permits, we love camping! The UAE has some of the BEST camping spots and you can be sleeping in the dunes under a carpet of stars one day, falling asleep to the sound of the waves on the beach the next and then on another day, waking up to the most beautiful sunrise in the mountains. Plus, we get to bring Ted along with us so it really is something we do as a family.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE?

Legally Blonde! Elle Woods is an inspiration!

IF YOU COULD EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Christmas Dinner cooked by my Grandad. He was a chef in the British Army and caters like he’s still feeding hundreds of troops.

WHO’S YOUR CELEBRITY CRUSH?

Jason Momoa – It’s the rough rugged vibes for me and the beard.

WHICH DESTINATION IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST TO VISIT?

Japan during their sakura season is a dream of mine. My grandparents had a sakura tree in their garden and every spring, when I was little, I would watch all the pale pink petals drop. The garden would look like it was covered in a blanket of snow and it was simply beautiful.

WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?

I find coffee shops with squishy armchairs where I can cuddle up with a book and a mug of hot tea. The goal is to lose half a day at least.

IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Ha! My friends all say I’m the baby whisperer. I don’t know how but I can easily calm a crying baby until they fall asleep. I’d keep that superpower but with a 100% success rate. My kids are past the baby stage now but you never know, we might add to our brood and we love an afternoon nap in our house.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN DUBAI?

Dubai is one of the most welcoming places in the world, it offers safety and security like nowhere else and I cannot think of a better place to raise a family but my favourite thing is that you meet people from all walks of life here, everyone is interesting and everyone has a story.
