I’m Harriet – a relative Dubai newbie, having moved here back in April with my husband and our now 15 month old daughter, Minnie. My husbands job moved here quite suddenly, but we are loving Dubai life so far – particularly my daughter, who seems much more at home in a warmer climate! I love learning new things – I recently completed my level 3 qualification in personal training, and I’m about to start a course to become a health coach. I’m also a big fan of movies and drag my husband to the cinema every opportunity we get!
WHERE IS HOME?
Hampstead, North London.
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER?
A ballerina, and then a tv presenter. I actually enjoyed a (very!) brief stint as an ITV weather girl, although thankfully for the general public it was a short lived career!
WHAT DO YOU DO?
Sales & Partnerships Manager for British Mums.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE ACTIVITY TO DO WITH YOUR CHILDREN?
Reading. One of my best friends recently gave my daughter the most beautiful children book for Christmas. Its called The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse and it has the most beautiful morals and life lessons for children to learn from a young age (and it makes a welcome change from Peppa Pig)!
HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR WEEKENDS?
My husband still works a western week here so our weekends are still Saturday/Sunday which is a little odd, but we’ll often head out for some family activities on a Sunday as everywhere is a lot quieter! We live on the beach so Saturdays usually involve some long walks along the beach, along with factoring in some time to check out new and different parts of Dubai.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE?
It’s a close tie between La La Land, The Greatest Showman and The Notebook.
IF YOU COULD EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
My mums spag Bol.
WHO’S YOUR CELEBRITY CRUSH?
Mmmm tough one. Cillian Murphy – or more specifically, Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders. Or Tom Hardy.
WHICH DESTINATION IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST TO VISIT?
I’d love to see the Northern Lights
WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?
It’s got to be trash TV. And marmite on toast. Ideally both at the same time.
IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Such a cliched answer but it would have to be flying. Or perhaps a teleporter so I could just click my fingers and be back in London without having to endure a 7 hour flight!
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN DUBAI?
Asides from the weather, I think it has to be the safety aspect. At the moment, London sadly feels like quite an unsafe place to be at times, and especially now I have a child, being out in public and not constantly having to keep an eye on your belongings is a welcome relief!
