ABOUT ME

I’m a mum of two fabulous children – one aged seven (who hates having her photo taken as you can see above!) and one aged 11 years – the other half to a great husband who’s a little bit Scottish and a little bit South African, and an editor with a job that I love. I’ve recently relocated to the UK after 12 years in Dubai and enjoying a new chapter in our lives. I love being outdoors, running, boot camps, travelling, road trips, live music and theatre. I can’t start the day without a cappuccino and a workout of some kind, I’ll always have music playing in the background, and I love simply everything there is about Christmas.

WHERE IS HOME?

Very happy to call the UK home after moving back one year ago – but after living for several years in Dubai and New Zealand, there’ll always be parts of my heart there too.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER?

A dancer, but after getting politely booted out of a tap class when I was 10 years old for having no rhythm, it was never to be! So now I’m just happy to enjoy the guilty pleasure of Strictly instead!

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I am the International Editor for WhichSchoolAdvisor, a job that I absolutely love. I get to write about education, which brings together my passion for writing as a journalist, my personal interest in education as a parent, and my love for exploring as it takes me to schools in the UK and across South East Asia.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ACTIVITY TO DO WITH YOUR CHILDREN?

Anything that brings that magical smile and look of wonder to their faces – and that can be anything from climbing a mountain in Snowdonia to seeing our very first carrots grow in the garden. What I love about being a mum is how I’m always seeing the world in a new light through their eyes and experiences – it’s amazing.

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR WEEKENDS?

I’m a big planner, so we always have weekends booked up weeks in advance. A typical weekend will involve plenty of time outdoors – hikes, bike rides, kayaking and (in the summer) lots of camping – as well as rugby training for the kids, travelling countrywide to see friends and family, and ALWAYS discovering a new place to enjoy breakfast or lunch (and often dinner!) I love all things food, so eating out or cooking is always part of the plan.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE?

Ever since watching this movie on a plane (and not so quietly sobbing in public), I’ve loved the hugely sentimental and romantic P.S I Love You…

IF YOU COULD EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Cheese – every type, any type – forever and a day!

WHO’S YOUR CELEBRITY CRUSH?

Gerard Butler (hence why I’ve watched P.S I Love You so many times!).

WHICH DESTINATION IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST TO VISIT?

A road trip across the US, from coast to coast, in an RV with the family.

WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?

Kitchen discos – singing very loudly and dancing very badly to anything from the 80s!

IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

To fly! I’m always running late (yes, I am that parent at school pick-ups) so this would make sure I get there on time!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN DUBAI?

The seasons! I absolutely love the changes in the weather, the beautiful changes in nature all around us, and being able to soak up the joys of each season with so many different indoor and outdoor activities.
