I haven’t quite accepted the fact that I am not 35 anymore and so still spend a lot of time working out trying to get my body back to pre-baby, pre-40! At least 5 days a week you will find me running on Kite Beach, doing megaformer (a suped up strain of Pilates) or doing HITT sessions. I am terrible at relaxing and so when you’re running your own business that’s a positive. Although not so much fun when my husband is introducing me to a new Netflix series such as Money Heist or Atypical – which once I get hooked I watch back to back. Otherwise, I love to cook, fits in well with my neurosis of being fit and healthy as I am always looking for new recipes to try out and dare I say it my most recent success is beetroot burgers ( yes, I watched The Game Changers).
WHERE IS HOME?
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER?
I don’t remember.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
We have created an e-commerce gifting site called One Good Thing where each item purchase does something good. We have wash bags made from decommissioned fire hoses that would otherwise end up in landfills, bracelets made from unexploded bombs that were dropped in the Vietnam war. Our mission is to change the world with what you buy. We want to make it super easy for people to make a positive impact on the world and there is nothing like money that makes the world go round and so we have source brands from all over the world that have a social or environmental impact.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE ACTIVITY TO DO WITH YOUR CHILDREN?
Anything- as long as it isn’t soft play 🙂 Because we run our own business, I like to let my son choose what he likes to do when we spend time together. I remember when I was younger, time with my mum was time when she was present and so I try to adopt that “quality rather than quantity” and so I guess that’s my favourite thing.
HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR WEEKENDS?
When we don’t have an event – I love to have no schedule 🙂 so we have a slow wake up and then my favourite meal to have is breakfast with my boys and catch up with friends. In the afternoon, evenings, we love to take a walk on the beach or the canal especially at this time of year. Evenings will normally be sofa-based with a take away – it is the weekend after all!
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE?
My guilty pleasure is Pitch Perfect! I am also a little bit on love with Will Smith and so 7 Pounds is a movie that I don’t often watch but has always stuck in my mind.
IF YOU COULD EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Yikes, that’s a tough one.
WHO’S YOUR CELEBRITY CRUSH?
Will Smith and Chris Hemsworh.
WHICH DESTINATION IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST TO VISIT?
Ok, now this is a long list as I love to travel and explore – I think that comes hand in hand with being an expat but top 5 are Japan, Brazil, Cuba, Santorini and I also want to see the Northern Lights.
WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?
I mentioned one above but seeing as I get a second chance 🙂 it’s food related. Growing up one of my comfort foods was boiled rice topped with Brovil (don’t knock it until you have tried it!) full of all the carbs and salt you shouldn’t eat but that’s why its a guilty pleasure. That and shortbread (by the packet) and cream team (jam on top of clotted cream of course) and chips from a fish and chip shop. Those would be the foods I would eat ALL the time if I didn’t feel awful after it and if it had some nutritional value 🙂
IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Have you seen Bewitched? You know where she could stop time by just placing her hands together? I think it would be that or maybe time travel. Something to do with time anyway, as I don’t ever seem to have enough of it and I have created so many good memories with people that I would love to relive them again.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN DUBAI?
The people and their acceptance of people from anywhere in the world and the acceptance of new things. I love the can do attitude of people here – it attracts positivity in people and encourages a can do attitude.
