ABOUT ME

Most of you know me for my posts relating to my son Oscar (who is now officially a horrible teenager!) or posts about mental illness. Many of you also know I suffered PND and PTSD. What you don’t know about me is that I am not only mum to Oscar & Maisie and founder of Out of the Blues but I am also a very keen traveler, reader, movie watcher and wine drinker. I have also been a vegetarian for over 25 years.

WHERE IS HOME?

I was born and raised in South London but moved to Dubai 12 years ago with my family. Despite having lived overseas for many years, both here in Dubai and in Central America, home will always be the UK.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER?

I always wanted to work for the Met Police as a Child Psychologist; I felt that it would be a great way to help those who couldn’t help themselves. Sadly, I didn’t pass the entrance exam as at the time glasses weren’t encouraged.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I work as an LSA supporting a child with challenges in mainstream school. I also run a company with another special needs mum where we sell Sensory and Therapy items to the special need’s community, schools and therapy centres. In our wisdom we decided to name the business after ourselves 😉 Amazing Mums Sensory Supplies!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE ACTIVITY TO DO WITH YOUR CHILDREN?

Maisie loves to do anything artistic, sewing, painting, puzzles so we do a lot of that. Oscar is all about gaming… I try, but I suck in fairness and he usually sends me packing after a while!

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR WEEKENDS?

I spend my weekends with Oscar and Maisie. We go to see movies, we cook, read, cuddle and go for bike rides – it’s my favourite part of the week.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE?

Pulp Fiction is definitely one of my top three; I love the soundtrack and even listened to it whilst in labour with Maisie.

IF YOU COULD EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Anything vegetarian, spicy and Mexican.

WHO’S YOUR CELEBRITY CRUSH?

Channing Tatum… Who can resist a man with a body like that and those moves… so much promise!

WHICH DESTINATION IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST TO VISIT?

Nepal is number one – and I will get there one day! My dream is to sit on top of a lush green hill all alone and enjoy the peace – no kids, no work, no ex-husband; just nature and me.

WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?

Going to the cinema alone. It’s true escapism! I get to watch an adult movie and don’t have to take anyone to the toilet half way through. If I’m really lucky it maybe happens once every 6 months.

IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

To clone myself – then I might get to the bottom of my to-do list!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN DUBAI?

Being so close to the sea! I love the sight and sound of the waves crashing on the shore. I would love to one day have a reading room that overlooked the sea so I can combine two of my true passions.
