ABOUT ME

My name is Aimee and I’m just about to turn 36. I moved to the UAE over 12 years ago for a 2 year contract as a teacher before settling down. Many years, a husband and two children later I have married the country I call my home now and settled in for the long run.

I have left the classroom and now spend my time advising schools, training teachers and working with education resource development teams to develop engaging and meaningful learning tools. In my spare time (pffft what spare time) I love nothing more than being with my sons at home surrounded by friends and family, or friends who have become family, the line blurs in the UAE.

WHERE IS HOME?

Lytham st Anne’s in Lancashire.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER?

I always wanted to be a teacher or a paramedic.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE ACTIVITY TO DO WITH YOUR CHILDREN?

We love lazy Fridays building LEGO creations or walks on the beach at Nanna’s house.

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR WEEKENDS?

Catching up with friends and taxi driving children between parties, activities and play dates.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE?

I loved the last Need for speed but generally I will watch and enjoy anything, tear-jerkers are normally up there.

IF YOU COULD EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Probably Chinese prawn curry and fried rice (it’s probably a good thing I can’t get it here).

WHO’S YOUR CELEBRITY CRUSH?

I’m a massive Jason Statham fan!

WHICH DESTINATION IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST TO VISIT?

I’d love to do a Kenyan Safari.

WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?

100% gossip but not in the bad sense, I’m just a real chatterbox and can waste hours speaking nonsense with people.

IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Time travel! Working full time means I always wish I could be in two places at once. I’d love to zip back in time to make sure I made assembly or sports day or just be there to see the boys at lunch.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN DUBAI?

Definitely the people; I love living in such a diverse environment and learning and meeting so many interesting people everyday.
