Lunch time for mums can often mean grabbing a sandwich on the go, but some days there’s the occasion that requires something more relaxing, more wine-soaked (we wish!) and we’ve found the perfect spot for mums or girlfriends to meet.
So, what do you really want out of a midweek daytime meal? Probably something relatively quick, with no impossibly long wait times. Something fun, maybe a little classy (like us!) and with great food at a great price; a venue that serves thoughtful salads, homemade breads and quality seasonal dishes. McGettigan’s Souk Madinat Jumeirah has a fuss-free, casual spot with delicious food, great drinks and really pretty surroundings.
This well known, popular bar enjoys one of the best locations in Dubai at Souk Madinat Jumeirah – with its outdoor seating, it provides excellent views of the Burj al Arab and a perfect spot to meet your friends. You can sit back and relax next to the water’s side and savour a light two-course meal for just AED70, which is a great price for mid-week lunches noon to 4pm (so plenty of time to lunch before school pick-ups).
If you fancy a family lunch, you’ll be glad to know that children are really welcome too and there’s a good kid’s menu available too. There’s a colouring section to keep the little ones entertained, so at least you can enjoy some well-earned peace and quiet! There are over ten dishes that you can choose from – including a fresh lime and avocado quinoa salad, baked sweet potato with lemon and garlic chicken fillet or barley and bean salad. Being good with the healthier offerings means you can add a glass of wine or bubbly if you are in the mood, for just AED29 more (making it really reasonable).
If you fancy a carb fix – tasty options such as lemon and garlic chilli chicken pita and garlic four cheese flatbread will satisfy your cravings. Nothing beats a good ol’classic salad for lunch and McGettigan’s does it well, with classic options like chicken ceaser or Buffalo mozzarella with balsamic glazed plum and mint. You can push the boat out to end your meal with the most delectable Baileys and vanilla cheesecake with berry compote for a sweet finish, and there’s even herbal teas to keep you going throughout the afternoon.
What’s great about McGettigan’s is that it’s a big hit with visitors too. Not only does it provide the perfect spot for lingering over a crisp glass of wine during a relaxed lunch – but you can make the most of their happy hour too, which runs from 2pm to 8pm. The happy hour includes a great selection of beers, spirits, wine and most importantly, bubbles!
After an afternoon here, you might just rethink that sarnie at home after all!
