Urdang International and Kent College have joined forces to bring you a world-class, West End quality BTEC in Performing Arts equivalent to 3 A Levels. As such, we are delighted to invite you to tour Kent College Dubai and it’s Performing Arts facilities, followed by FREE ONLINE taster sessions for students considering a career in the Performing Arts industry. If you’ve got a budding star aged 14-16, this is the perfect opportunity to find out about their vocational qualifications and what it’s like to train with a world class Performing Arts Conservatoire for your sixth form.

Start the day with a tour of the high end Performing Arts facilities at Kent College Dubai, followed by FREE online ‘taster’ sessions from the comfort of your own home, with their incredible West End Stars and see how Kent College Dubai and Urdang International can support your child in their post-16 education. Wrap up with a virtual Q&A with Solange Urdang, CEO of Urdang and Caroline Kelley, Head of Performing Arts at Kent College Dubai.

Then, to prepare your performer for their chosen career path, there is a talented team of professionals to give them an experience of what it’s like to train with Urdang International. George Ure is the Singing Instructor and Vocal Coach who’s appeared in Wicked, Starlight Express and many more West End favourites. Li Li Hodge is the talented Commercial Dance Instructor who has performed on The X Factor as well as toured with many artists. Finally, the Jazz Instructor for the taster session is Layton Williams, who began his career at the age of 12, playing the title role of Billy in the West End production of Billy Elliot.

On Wednesday 10^th March, we’ll be holding the next meeting of the British Mums Book Club in conjunction with our friends at Hillhouse Brasserie. Taking place on the second Wednesday of every month from 9am-11am, the Book Club offers mums the chance to come together and discuss literature, whilst enjoying a delicious breakfast and making new friends.

Join a bunch of other mums who also love reading and chat through the latest book whilst enjoying a delicious breakfast prepared by the talented chefs consisting of one of a choice of fresh seasonal fruit, pastries, yoghurt, granola, scrambled egg on toast or smashed avocado on toast. There’s also unlimited tea, coffee and water from 9am-11am to ensure you have a brilliant and energised start to the day. Please note there is an AED 50 charge for each book club meeting.

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and as mums, we’re struggling to agree… We’re up before 6am and the next 2 hours we dedicate to getting our tiny humans ready and off to school before we even stop to take a breath. Do the scraps of leftover toast even count as a hearty meal? If you’re in need of a lovely (and we mean lovely) breakfast out of the house with some other mums, then this is the perfect event for you!

The Pangolin are inviting the British Mums community down for a delicious breakfast as they know how important it is to start the day off on the right foot! We’re delighted to be working with this one of a kind lifestyle destination that is set over two floors to offer our mums a delicious and FREE breakfast. We love these guys as they work with local farmers and sustainable produce to serve a menu with real heart and soul and is consistently good value for all. On offer for all attendees is two eggs on toast, served just as you like them, plus a side of your choice (we’re going avocado but there’s also tomatoes, beans, spinach and sausage), water and a tea or coffee.

This fab morning out wouldn’t be possible without the support of The Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai, who are set to open this September just moments away from our yummy breakfast spot. Mrs. Clare Turnbull, Head of Prep will be in attendance to let our mums know what the school has in store for their students this coming academic year but will also be on hand to answer any generic school questions you may have.

The Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai is a British Curriculum school for children aged 3 to 18, opening in September 2021 for pupils in Early Years and Prep, expanding to Senior School over the following years. Part of the Royal Grammar School Guildford in the UK, Head of Prep, Clare Turnbull has over 20 years of experience in educational leadership roles. She has direct senior leadership experience from RGS Guildford, where she was a member of the senior leadership team for 16 years, 13 of which she was Head of the Preparatory School of RGS Guildford. She brings the academic excellence of RGS Guildford to her role at Royal Grammar School Guildford, Dubai (RGSGD) and looks forward to meeting our mums and sharing with them the values and learning habits that make RGS Guildford Dubai a truly unique school. The school aims to bring a bright new home of learning to Dubai, where academics are just one part of a rich experience – A purpose-built education that interconnects leadership, wellbeing and global citizenship .

It’s been a while since a really good kids movie came out, so we’re delighted that the third edition of Maya The Bee’s adventures is hitting the movie screens this weekend. If you’re looking some down-time this weekend, then pack a cardie and head to the cinemas for popcorn and a lovely family movie! Here’s what’s in store…

When a bored Maya and Willy bust out of winter lock down early, they are catapulted headfirst into a top secret mission! Entrusted with the care of a sacred “seed”, Maya and Willy team up with their old pal’s Arnie and Barney to deliver the seed to its new home atop the mysterious Bonsai Mountain. But when their “seed” hatches, Maya and Willy come face to face with their biggest responsibility yet – a squishy little princess called Smoosh! This adventure is a LOT more than they bargained for as they take on bounty hunters, thugs and ruthless enemies, to return the lost princess to her mountain colony, only to find it hanging in the balance of a turf war and remorseless predators. Willy discovers a side of himself that he never expected, as he becomes protective of the tiny princess, but to save her, and her colony, Maya must learn that trust is not just a word, it has to be earned.

We’re super excited that the next meeting of the British Mums Evening Book Club is fast approaching, taking place on the last Wednesday of every month. The next meeting kicks off on Wednesday 30^th March at 8pm and is hosted by our friends at Hillhouse Brasserie. Coinciding with their amazing ladies night (win), the Book Club offers mums the chance to come together and discuss literature, whilst enjoying a some tapas style dishes and drinks and making new friends.

We’re delighted to be working with Hillhouse Brasserie to host our Book Club and they’ll be offering a choice of 5 yummy tapas style dishes (come hungry) and 3 drinks to all Book Club attendees for AED 115 per person. Admire the amazing view of Burj Khalifa, whilst sipping on Aperol Spritz, Hillhouse Fizz, Prosecco, Wine, select Spirits, beers and cider, whilst chatting with other mums on all things book-related! As regulars, we thoroughly recommend the duck salad, tuna ceviche, mushroom risotto and crab crumpets. There’s even 5 dessert options on the menu including custard doughnuts, chocolate brownie and tiramisu – so if you wanted, you could order 5 desserts – no judgement from us!
