As if LEGOLAND Dubai wasn’t enough, there’s a new kid on the block (quite literally) as LEGOLAND New York has just announced that it will open in 2020.

At a media event recently more than 30,000 LEGO bricks were dumped onto the stage by construction vehicles and 1,500 balloons cascaded from the ceiling much to the delight of local school children in attendance.

The first LEGOLAND Park opened in 1968 in Billund, Denmark, following by our much loved LEGOLAND UK in Windsor back in 1996. California followed in 1999 and 3 years later LEGOLAND Deutschland opened. Since 2005, those four Parks have belonged to British-based Merlin Entertainments Group and in 2011, the group further expanded opening up LEGOLAND Florida, Malaysia and then Dubai just over a year ago.

But since Dubai, the guys at LEGOLAND have been ultra busy opening up Japan in April this year with more venues to follow!

LEGOLAND New York will open in Gohsen, Orange County and will be open seasonally from April 1st to November 1st. It’s also following the pattern we know being designed for children ages 2 to 12, LEGOLAND and will again be split into a number of highly LEGO® themed areas, which consist of more than 50 rides, shows and attractions. Additionally, a 250-room LEGOLAND Hotel will be built in New York and open year-round. So now a trip to the Big Apple might mean you have to squeeze a little bit more in?
