Dubai is known for having the the tallest, the fastest, the latest and the best, and when it comes to state of the art entertainment, Dubai’s new aqua theatre, La Perle, is no exception.

The stand-out venue in Al Habtoor City, just off the Sheikh Zayed Road is, in true Dubai style, the only theatre of its kind in the world and is Dubai’s first ever permanent show.

La Perle is created and directed by Franco Dragone who is famed for shows all over the world including Cirque de Soleil that wowed Dubai a few years back. With La Perle show, you can expect a truly spectacular fusion of artistic performance and mesmerising imagery mixed with ground-breaking technology that undoubtedly creates a escape that pays homage to the region’s rich history, present and future. Throughout the 90 minute show, aspects of this are featured through the dramatic music, lyrics, action, set, and totally stunning special effects!

Arriving at La Perle

You’ll be pleased to hear that visitors to La Perle can make use of the complimentary valet parking, although it can be a little chaotic if you end up arriving close to the start of the performance – so do allow plenty of time. It takes around 15 minutes to get your car back from valet afterwards, or alternatively, there are ample paid parking bays along the slip road of the Sheikh Road Road if you arrive in good time.

Guests start their experience in the futuristic lobby where you can either collect your tickets or show your online tickets to head your way along La Perle’s signature blue carpet to the theatre upstairs.

Food and Beverages

There’s snacks and drinks available, that quite uniquely, are permitted inside the theatre. This makes for spectator-friendly viewing, especially for children with sweet and savoury snacks on offer including warm, salty edamame beans available for AED 20, popcorn and ice creams for AED 20, beef sausage rolls and nachos for AED 30 and a selection of Frobisher juices, coconut water and warm drinks with prices being reasonable. Be warned though, that queues can be quite long, so don’t leave your refreshments to the last minute!

If however, you arrive early and fancy pre or post-show drinks at the venue, there’s British pub The Rose & Crown, Asian inspired Blind Dragon, Mexican flavours at Zoco or South African cuisine at The City Grill, two of which are currently on offers in The Entertainer.

Inside La Perle’s Aqua Theatre

You will unquestionably realise you are in a one-of-a-kind theatre as soon as you enter and with 14 rows of seats spanning 270 degrees around the aqua-stage, it’s intriguing before the show has even started!

If you’re worried about whether the seat you select has a good view, rest assured because very single seat in La Perle offers a great view and a completely different perspective as the action unfolds with Bronze, Silver, Gold and VIP sections dictating just how intimate you’d like that experience to be.

La Perle Show

The technical effects you will see are put simply, out of this world. Thanks to a visual feast of 3D projections, the stage transforms through scenes of Dubai past and present that come alive with a ceiling and floor that incorporate spectacular pools, waterfalls and much more. La Perle’s superhuman cast manage to defy all logic with jaw dropping, and death-defying aquatic and aerial stunts that include motorbikes, acrobatics and some wondrous trapeze.

Be under no illusion; this is a world class performance that has clearly been years of hard work in the making. La Perle sets a benchmark for the world to see yet again how things are done in Dubai and it’s captivating.

Is it suitable for children? Yes, although note that the roaring engines of modern day Dubai scenes and the orchestral crescendo’s might not suit little ones.

La Perle is a visually stunning spectacle in, on and above water, encapsulating the wonderful spirit of Dubai. We’d love to tell you more but won’t ruin the surprises. To take a peak of what’s in store, watch this:
