Community Guidelines

This website has been specially created for our British Mums members to view specific content that will be relevant, helpful and fun. We’ve tried to pack in as much as possible of the things we enjoy most in our community – and a whole lot more. We actively encourage you to get involved, share and connect with fellow British Mums and support our community wherever possible.

These Community Guidelines are here to help you better understand what it means to be a British Mums member. Please don’t forget that your use of our website and page is subject to these Community Guidelines as well as our Terms and Conditions and we reserve the right to block/ remove members that don’t comply to these; so please have a read below.

Membership status will be allocated to users that meet our acceptance criteria. If you are not a member you will still be able to use the website, however, to protect the identity and personal information of our members, certain content and functionality will not be available to non-members.

Acceptance of Guidelines

You agree to be bound by these guidelines by accessing, viewing and/or using this website. If you do not wish to be bound by these guidelines, you may not access, display, use, add, download and/or otherwise distribute content obtained from this website.

Top-Tips (what to do)

1. Keep it fun and friendly

We’re a global community with a variety of people and cultures, who all have the right to feel safe and comfortable and may not think, feel or believe what you believe. And so, please be considerate in your interactions with other members and be super-nice all round.

2. Only upload your own stuff

Be respectful of the intellectual property of others. Don’t take photos or videos that others created/ hold the rights to and upload it as your own.

3. Cool down your content

All content on the British Mums website, both public and private, needs to be appropriately moderated as “safe for work”, and as such will be curated by our content safety filters. So know your onions and if your taste proves to be poor, we’ll moderate your account to match appropriate categorisation and if necessary send you a warning if your post is not in keeping.

4. Link back to British Mums when you post your British Mums content elsewhere

British Mums makes it possible to post content hosted on British Mums to other websites and pages. Pages on other websites that display content hosted on the British Mums page must provide a link back to the British Mums page. This provides us with a way to get more information about the movement of the content and provide that to it’s owner.

5. Enjoy British Mums

This is your community and is here for you to celebrate your creativity; so mingle and share what you fancy and what’s important to you. It’s also an opportunity for you to see the world through the eyes of others, so have fun, participate, find your inspiration and broaden those horizons!

What not to do

So here’s the deal: we’re believers in second chances, however, if we realise you’re stepping across any of the lines listed below, we will take action, which could mean deleting your account with or without warning.

1. Don’t upload anything that isn’t yours

This is equally applicable to all types of content and includes other people’s photos, videos, articles and/or bits and bobs copied or collected from around the Internet. If it’s not yours it’s theirs. Accounts that mainly consist of this type of content may be deleted at any time.

2. Keep it “safe for work”

If you would think twice about showing your content to your child, a family member or a stranger on the street, then you need to filter it. If you don’t, your account will be moderated and possibly even deleted by the British Mums team.

3. Keep it covered

No nudity or provocative imagery in your buddy icon, cover photo or in fact anywhere will be tolerated, no matter how much we like that bod.

Only content considered “safe for work” (SFW) is appropriate for your icon or cover photo. If we find either contains inappropriate content, we’ll remove it, mark your account as “restricted” and send you a warning. If we find you doing it again, we’ll delete your account.

4. Don’t upload content that is illegal or prohibited

If we find content like this on your account, it will be deleted and we’ll take appropriate action which depending on what it is, could even mean reporting to an official and nobody wants that, right?

5. No tantrums: don’t vent your frustrations, coerce or rant

British Mums is not a platform or community for you to harass, abuse, spam, impersonate, or intimidate others. We’re a community because we support each other, so if we receive a valid complaint about your conduct, we’ll send you a warning or delete your account because it’s just not on.

6. Don’t use British Mums for unauthorised commercial activity

British Mums is a community platform for mums to share and explore fresh and engaging content whilst they interact with each other.

If you actively engage in commercial activity elsewhere in the digital or real world, you’re certainly still welcome to the British Mums community, provided you are a British Mums member in good rapport. We do offer platforms for the community to advertise their work to others, and you’ll find space in the ‘Talented Mums’ section and elsewhere around the website so if you are interested but not sure how, please get in contact.

All other unauthorised commercial activity is strictly prohibited. We don’t tolerate spam, deceptive tagging or other behaviour to generate responses or traffic.

Adding content to the site

We encourage you to get involved and add whatever content you fancy. Once you’re registered and become a member, all content on the website is moderated. British Mums reserve the right to remove or decline any content submitted that does not comply with our Community Guidelines. All content, comments, reviews and listings submissions will be reviewed within the first 48 hours of submission; often quicker. If for any reason the content you submitted is not approved you will be notified via email, which will also include a motivation on why your request was denied.
