“This is an outstanding school – and an absolutely beautiful, life affirming one too.”  Schools Compared

A family-first school unique in its offerings, ethos and values, Bloom World Academy is the first own-brand school of leading educational provider Bloom Education. The pioneering school has attracted families from all over Dubai and brought several ‘firsts’ to the UAE, including being the first (and currently only) school in the country to offer a 9am start to a flexible (between 8am and 5pm) school day. Children aged 18 months to 18 years access a highly personalised and dynamic education at its state-of-the-art campus in Al Barsha South, Dubai.

Admissions are now open for AY ’24 – ’25.

A small but meaningful difference – the 9am start to the school day – drew many families to sign up initially, avoiding the notorious crush of traffic around the conventional school drop-off timing and providing a more relaxed morning routine. The true motivation for the school’s later start, however, lay in honouring young people’s natural sleep cycles, in line with research showing that this can maximise productivity throughout the school.

To allow learning to be fully in balance with family life, the school also provides the option of wraparound education from 8:00am to 9:00am and 4:00pm to 5:00pm, with an extensive selection of extension/enrichment activities (Bloom Enrichment Learning Activities – BELAs) – languages, sports, creative, digital and technical – children can take part in these before and after school (Monday to Thursday), with all internally provided BELA included within school fees.

A more central feature of the offering at BWA, and a driving force for its reputation and success is its commitment to a ‘customised curriculum’, giving children true agency in their education. While many schools strive for passion-driven learning (for its obvious benefits), Bloom World Academy has taken this a step further than most. Almost every child in the school has a different timetable; each young person is a unique learner.

The school delivers on this promise through its Learning Achievement Passport, a document which puts in place a personalised timetable, sets goals, maps progress, and is reviewed collectively and openly between teacher, parents, and student every month. Their dynamic and student-centric curriculum has been built on the concept of ‘stage not age’ to ensure that children progress and develop their learning based on aptitude, interests and abilities, not solely on age or academic year.

The customisable timetable modules, ‘Pathways’, are subjects which students choose from to tailor their education and are embedded within the curriculum in such a way as to complement the holistic learning of the child. Choices available for Pathways are diverse; from Fashion Design to the Electric Vehicle Grand Prix building, the Duke of Edinburgh Award to Digital Music Production to Surf/Water Lifesaving.

With this sense of empowerment in their education, children are highly motivated to learn and are given the opportunity, through Pathways and the ‘stage not age’ approach, to specialise and truly excel in subjects they are passionate about.

Teachers absolutely believe in the school – and it shows. Students cannot actually wait to get to school. Parents are de-stressed with school timings that recognise that we do not all fit into boxes.”School Compared

The family-first philosophy is a key component of life at BWA. This is a school which does not pay lip-service to the idea of an ‘open door’. Every week, families are welcome at the Community Forum events, which provide a stage for students to perform, discuss their learning and experiences and receive awards. Ben’s Farmhouse Café offers locally sourced, organic and healthy food as well as a space for working and socialising throughout the week. Every Friday, workshops offer learning experiences in topics from languages to curriculum support and monthly Progress Reviews allow parents to talk openly and regularly with teachers about their child’s learning journey.

A message from the Principal, John Bell:

We are a school which has the highest expectations and standards for all our community; a school in which adults are great role models who cherish the creative and innovative, a school which genuinely embraces differences by customising, stretching and supporting the learning journey of each and every child and young person. Our guarantee is to deliver the very best education we can to ensure each and every child will be as academically successful, socially happy and emotionally attuned and resilient as they can be. This ambition is based on some very clear and considered values that govern the way Bloom World Academy teaches our students every single day.
